This blog is about date nights, delicious food adventures, travel, family and friendship in the San Francisco Bay Area. Written by a reluctant foodie and a writer who only writes for herself. It does not matter if nobody bothers to read any of my thoughts. I will still continue to write -- just because I find so much pleasure in expressing myself through blogging. However, let me welcome you, if you ever stop by. And thank you.
Super-lazy Saturday. Not wanting to not go out on Saturday night, we were also did not want to make a big deal about this weekend’s date night. We found ourselves at Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe in Oakland.
Food at Rudy’s is decent but nothing to write home about. Typical diner food is served but with a California twist. The hipster decor is fun, though and the service is always friendly. (The rows of Barbie dolls in I-am-Rudy uniform are fascinating but creepy.)
One thing I like about Rudy’s menu is I can get a decent vegetarian or fish dish while my guy can satisfy his carnivorous tendencies.
We shared an appetizer of Buffalo chicken wings ($7.50). I ordered my usual Cajun Catfish with mango salsa, rice and beans ($13.50) while my guy tried to eat healthier and ordered the Mile High (turkey sans bacon) sammie ($10.95).
An okay dinner for a little under $50.
This had been our 3rd visit and there will definitely a fourth!
(There is also another Rudy’s in Emeryville just in case the thugs disguised as protesters are back to destroy Oaktown. Just sayin’!)
